Communications Setup

5.4.23

CB Setup

I know CB radios are not quite as popular as they were previously, but I still have friends and family who use it, so I don't mind doing a CB setup.

GMRS/FRS Setup

Local clubs seem to be moving towards the GMRS/FRS radios, so I also keep a pair of these on hand.

Comms/Glasses holder

This is the best option I could think of without needing to permanently mount something to the dash. Bent from 1/8" steel that was lying around, cutting a slot in the top with a dremel for holding communication radios or a pair of glasses, primered and then painted. Mounted to the dash with double sided tape, while making sure to place it off to the side of the airbag

Antenna Cable Install

The cable was run through the firewall rubber grommet on the drivers side, and I drilled a small hole in the dash, which the cable connector fits snugly into both when in use, or disconnected.

4ft Firestik Antenna

I used a 4ft Firestik tunable tip antenna, with the stainless spring, and the fire-flex cable to allow it to remain low-profile on the hood.

Foldable Antenna Mount

Antenna was attached to an 80/20 hinge which was drilled out to allow for the antenna/cable bolt to go through the middle (bolt cannot touch the metal of the mount). This hinge allows the antenna to be folded down for low clearance situations.

Contact us if interested in the hood mounts. They can be custom made for mounting just lights, or lights and the 80/20 hinges.
